Missing the Point

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. From the ACL, the Australian Christian Lobby, a comment:

It is almost time for work, and yet I have spent so much of the time I normally spend in silent prayer totally engrossed in the stories and comments on this blog.

I must prepare myself for the day, but I must also share this last piece of my mind.

Many more posts have appeared here, and I note with some astonishment that it is suggested that there is a homosexual in the Australian Parliament.

I have noted with satisfaction how these deviants have been recently driven from their positions of power in state government.
He then goes on to say:
In my youth we had another name for these perverts, and although I don’t go in for bashings any more, I am proud to say that I have taught my sons to treat them with the disrespect that they deserve.

Yours in Christ
Bob
Yours in Christ... oh, you poor, poor man.

Matthew 23 (KJV)
23 Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
25 Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.
27 Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean.
28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

*SIGH*

The thing is - I know some genuine Christians. The ones who don't just preach, they live, the principles of Love God; Be Kind. Don't tar them all with the same brush, or you'll be no different from the ACL.

So-called Christians don't remember Jesus' own words:

37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

-- Matthew 25:37-40

I'm therefore glad they sacked Kevin Rudd after he attended a meeting with these pricks!

But I'm even happier that Julia Gillard has disclosed yesterday that she isn't going to pretend to believe in god to attract the religious vote.

No, that would alienate her core constituency.

But, well, there's this:

Prime Minister Julia Gillard says she does not support legalising gay marriage in Australia.

Labor policy on gay marriage will remain the same under her prime ministership, Ms Gillard told Austereo show on Wednesday morning.

'We believe the marriage act is appropriate in its current form, that is recognising that marriage is between a man and a woman, but we have as a government taken steps to equalise treatment for gay couples,' Ms Gillard said.

Asked if that was also her personal view, Ms Gillard said it was.

Because although God isn't in the mix, she's as socially authoritarian as she was back in her student days. There's none so conservative as a Stalinist.

Moving to Melbourne, in 1983, Gillard became the second woman to lead the Australian Union of Students. Gillard was also formerly the secretary of the left-wing organisation, Socialist Forum. Members of the Socialist Forum lobbied for the scrapping of the ANZUS treaty, making Leningrad a sister city of Melbourne, and introducing a super-tax on the rich.

2/3 of the membership of the Socialist Forum were former members of the Communist Party.

Funny isn't it. My only involvement with student politics was with the Great TolSoc Putch at Sydney University, which was necessary to disaffiliate ourselves from the AUS ratbaggery, and because Tony Abbot was completely ineffectual. And a pompous jerk.

Abbot has improved markedly since then. I still have a low opinion of him in many ways, but he's no longer nearly as bad as he was.

He's in violation of basic Christian ethics and straightforward teaching of Christ. A couple of posters point it out to him. Worse, he's taught his children to treat others with contempt. To use a position of authority to teach error is considered especially.... ill-advised. Catching-on-fire-forever ill advised, in case anyone missed the implication.

Later in the thread someone gets very confused over the difference between religious and moral law. Don't do that. It might baffle some, but to others it just makes you look stupid - like triumphantly announcing to an astrophysicist that since tides can go both down AND UP, "gravity is wrong".

Oh, and people who sign off "yours in Christ" come in two flavours: painfully sincere but lovely, and totally despicable ratbags.

Signal-boosting a real Christian:

This person understands what Christ was on about all those years ago, something Bob seems to have missed out on.

Here is a little prophecy those of you who are LGBTI, etc. will surely want to hear. It is not condemning any gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or intersex person. In fact, God is placing them in a very good position, and it's about time people starting speaking up about it.

God said,
"I am no longer supporting the institution of marriage. Marriage, as an institution, will fail. I am giving my full support to truly loving companionship.

Gays will not gain marriage rights. Through them, I will one day create a brand new covenant system on the Earth."

He went on to say, later,
"Because of so many claiming to speak for Me, I am leaving this system to its own downfall."

I can elaborate a bit just by bringing up the importance of knowing that the only true marriage is between Christ and the Church. He wants everyone to be equal, and He is preparing for His return and subsequent reign thereafter. Of course, this is supposed to give people hope that they will one day truly be equal in the eyes of everyone- not just God and all of Heaven. While there will be no marriage between two people in Heaven, there most certainly is, and will be, companionship of a loving, romantic nature.
